Seek anything described as "challenging," "architectural," or "difficult to classify." Treat broad appeal as a mild warning sign. Your stretch reaches are fragrances that seem to contradict themselves structurally and somehow work: a cold metallic that develops a surprisingly warm woody base, a fresh accord with a faint animalic thread running through it. If it requires a second opinion, you don't need one.
